Laurie Hole

Hi, and welcome to my page. I’m aware that you may be here after facing a loss or other difficult experience, which may be leaving you feeling distressed, anxious or overwhelmed. It is my aim to help you understand what is happening for you, working at your pace to make sense of your experiences and find relief from distressing feelings.

I can help you with:

  • Grief

  • Bereavement & Loss

  • Suicide Bereavement

  • Support for those affected by a suicide attempt

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Low Self-Esteem

  • Feeling low in mood

  • Trauma

I believe the therapy process is as unique as the human experience; therefore, I do not subscribe to a "one size fits all" approach. Instead, I use a relational integrative approach, which means that my work is grounded in the person-centred and compassion focused approaches but can also tailor our work to ensure we are focused on what you need from the therapy process.

An area of specialist interest in my work is bereavement and loss, which stems from my own personal experiences of loss. I understand that grief can be a lonely time, especially when it rearranges our contact list. I'm also often asked what the point of counselling is when it comes to loss. I understand this question because as much as I would love to say I can fix the unfixable - I can't. However, what counselling can offer you, is a space for your grief to be seen and heard. It's a space for you to be entirely honest and open about your grief - every messy, complicated, contradictory feeling and thought is welcome. I offer you a space to process something that can feel so life-shatteringly big, you wonder how to keep putting one foot in front of the other. I can offer you a space that, over time, can help you to grow around and live alongside your loss so that it feels less overwhelming and all-consuming.

Although I cannot fix it, your grief deserves to be witnessed and it deserves a voice.

In addition to my work in bereavement and loss, I have worked with many individuals who have been seeking support for a variety of reasons, including: low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, trauma, work-related difficulties, feeling sad/low in mood, feelings of shame and/or guilt. In addition to suicide bereavement, I also work with those who have been affected by an unsuccessful suicide attempt.

My qualifications include:

  • Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling

  • Introduction to Therapeutic Group Work

  • Certificate in Counselling Studies

  • Certificate in Counselling Skills
