Psychotherapist

Hi, I’m Laurie – a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist specialising in grief, loss, and change.
I can help you with:
Grief
Bereavement
Loss
Suicide Bereavement
Traumatic Bereavement
Non-Death Losses
Pet Loss
Change
Whether your loss is recent or long ago, I offer a calm, compassionate space to support you in making sense of what you’re feeling and gently finding your way forward.
Grief can follow many different experiences – bereavement (including suicide and traumatic loss), relationship breakdown, estrangement, illness, changes in family dynamics, pet loss, or realising something you needed was never there. These experiences can leave you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally disconnected.
I offer a warm, down-to-earth space where we follow your lead. My approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and the relationship we build together. I draw on person-centred, somatic, parts-based and compassion-focused ways of working – offering space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
I'm aware of how the nervous system responds to what you're feeling - because grief, loss and change don't just show up emotionally; they're held in the body. Working in this way can gently shift thoughts and feelings that talking alone might not reach, helping you feel more grounded, safe and connected.
You might not always have words for what you’re feeling, and that’s ok. Together, we can make sense of your experience in a way that feels grounding and manageable.
I work with adults across the UK online. Clients often come to me when they’re functioning on the outside but feel lost or shut down inside. Some are navigating a recent loss; others are beginning to recognise the impact of past losses that were never fully seen or supported.
I know personally how grief can unearth earlier pain and coping strategies that no longer serve us. In my early twenties, I lost a parent suddenly and found myself in survival mode – trying to hold everything together while feeling anxious, overwhelmed, confused and on edge. My own healing journey now informs the care, empathy and understanding I bring to my work.
I hold an MA in Counselling & Psychotherapy and specialist training in bereavement, online therapy, and therapeutic group work. I’m also a certified bereavement counsellor and continue to deepen my learning in trauma-informed, somatic, and integrative approaches.
If any of this resonates, you're not alone – and you don’t have to carry it alone.
My qualifications include:
MA Counselling & Psychotherapy
Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
