Grief and Loss Specialist

Emma Gray

Hi, I'm Emma and I live in the South West of England with my two daughters and our growing collection of animals. I believe that grief doesn't have to be something we merely survive, but instead we can learn to grow life around it and find joy, meaning and connection again.

If you're feeling lost in grief, unsure how to move forward, or overwhelmed by the weight of loss, I am here to support you on your journey from surviving to thriving.

I can help you with:

  • Bereavement (including spousal loss, parental loss, traumatic loss and hidden grief)

  • Anticipatory grief

  • Complex grief emotions (guilt, anger, relief, numbness)

  • Navigating life transitions after loss

  • Preparing for end-of-life (“Sadmin” paperwork - Wills, Powers of Attorney, etc.).

I work integratively, drawing primarily from person-centred therapy, which means I follow where you need to go at your own pace. I'm also trauma-informed and incorporate nervous system awareness, attachment theory, and an awareness of our parts into my work. I believe you already have the answers inside you, but often grief makes it hard to see them clearly, and hence the need for a different perspective.

I provide a safe, confidential, non-judgmental space where all your feelings are valid and welcome.

My story:

In 2016, my world collapsed when my fighting-fit Royal Marine husband was diagnosed with terminal oesophageal cancer at only 38 years old. He died two years later, leaving me widowed with two daughters aged six and eight.

At the time I was an award-winning Wills and Probate solicitor, and although we had our legal paperwork in order, nothing prepared me for the pain of grief. I have been there amongst the exhaustion of "holding it together", the isolation of loss, and the fear that joy might never return.

That experience changed everything and I left my legal career to retrained as an integrative counsellor and certified Grief Educator. Being a coach and counsellor feels like my soul's purpose: helping others to navigate grief with both a professional mind and a therapeutic heart, so you don't have to do it alone.

I now combine my legal background, therapeutic training, and lived experience to offer something unique… I understand grief both professionally and personally, and I can help with both the emotional journey and the practical challenges that loss brings.

My qualifications and training include:

  • BACP Registered Integrative Counsellor

  • Certified Grief Educator

  • Former Solicitor (Wills & Probate specialist)

  • 150+ hours volunteering as Bereavement Support Volunteer for Cruse Bereavement Support
